I have a church friend, whom I’ve known for well over a decade now. Recently, she’s started on a literary project for children – with a charitable cause. Check out more details of her project below!

WRITING

Christmas with the Pickles

I need to self-publish 1000 copies of a children’s picture book (for 4-9 year olds) which tells the story of a family who celebrates Christmas in the way a typical family would.

My goal: To introduce to young children the message of what Christmas really means (and what it’s not). At the end of the book is a set of guidelines to use the story as a springboard to teach social values.

Amidst the growing commercialisation of Christmas, we should instil in our young ones a sense of what Christmas truly signifies, so that they would not be consumed by an attitude of self-indulgence and self-centeredness during this season. This is not a profit-seeking opportunity, but for me to make a statement and hopefully a difference in the future generation.

I am doing this because I firmly believe that there are like-minded people who share my ideals and would be happy to contribute towards this cause.

The $6000 I am looking to raise is actually less than half of the project cost of $14,000. However, I will be able to fund the remaining half of my project as long as this project fuels to 100%. Therefore, if this project fuels to over 100%, it only means that it I will be able to do a better job, given that every cent is currently going to be forked out of my own shallow pocket.

1. RocketHub is not an investment or charity. It is an exchange: funds from fans for rewards from me.

2. If I manage to raise the targetted sum, I can lower the selling price of the book and make the message more accessible to kids.

3. If I don’t hit the target by the deadline, all the money goes back to the contributors and I dont get a cent.

4. If I do hit the target by the deadline, the website gets 8% of the amount and I get the rest.

5. Everything is in USD.
